Starting an LLC in Kentucky
An Kentucky LLC is a formal structure that protects your home, car, and bank account if your business is sued.
An LLC can be used to run a business or hold assets like real estate, cars, boats, or planes.
It’s easy to set up an LLC . Search the state database for your LLC’s name and choose your Registered Agent.
Send your Articles of Organisation to the Secretary of State and wait for your LLC to be accepted.
You can either file your LLC by mail or online. In both cases, you have to pay $40 to the state to file. If you file by mail, the approval time is one business day (plus the time it takes). If you file online, your application is accepted right away.
After your LLC is accepted, finish your LLC Operating Agreement and get your EIN Number (also called a Federal Tax ID Number) from the IRS. Next, find out if your LLC needs a Business Licence or any other permits to do business.
You also need to file a LLC Annual Report every year if you want to keep your Kentucky LLC in good standing. The fee is $15; you can file online or by mail. Your small business must pay any Kentucky LLC Taxes that apply yearly.
